RUGBY UNION NATIONAL QUARTER FINALSAn outstanding team performance from Barnsley College in the National Cup Quarter Final encounter eventually proved fruitless against well drilled and vastly experienced Myerscough Academy side. Barnsley dominated the first half of the game leading to a Sam Moss opening try resulting from an excellent team effort. This dominance and great defensive work led to Barnsley entering half time with a 7-0 lead and unfortunately several injuries to key players. Barnsley’s first half efforts unfortunately began to take its toll in the second half and this combined with Myerscough’s experience Barnsley eventually found themselves 10 points down with 10 minutes of play remaining. Barnsley rallied well in the final period of the game with Tom Henighan and Sam Moss again going close to scoring vital points. As fatigue set in towards the end of the game some minor mistakes contributed to a painful but proud defeat by a Barnsley side in its first season as a rugby union squad. Both Rugby Union Coaches, Tom and Stuart would like to say how proud they are once again of the whole team who have taken Barnsley College to a level never previously achieved before. "We would both like to thank all students who have represented Barnsley College this year and we are proud to have been part of a great side in a very successful season that has exceeded everyone’s expectations".
