Key Skills
All 16 -18 year old full time students are entitled to attend Key Skills classes. The actual Key Skills and levels covered will depend on the course to be studied.
Key Skills are:
· Skills that are commonly needed for success in a range of activities in education, training, work and life in general
· The ability to select and use appropriate techniques and skills in order to carry out tasks effectively in work contexts and life in general
There are six national Key Skills approved by QCA, available at levels 1, 2, 3 and 4.
The main Key Skills are Application of Number, ICT and Communication. You have to produce a portfolio of work and take a short test. You may not have to do the test, it depends whether you have on certain qualifications.
The Wider Key Skills units (Working with Others, Improving own learning and performance and Problem Solving are assessed by set questions and a portfolio of evidence. There are no tests.)
Calling all Creatives! This is your chance to design the new Barnsley Sixth Form College Logo. The winning design will receive £200 of gift vouchers. 
An event celebrating successful partnership working, sharing resources
and expertise and creating opportunities for future Barnsley workers
drew together staff from Barnsley College and NHS Barnsley recently . 
As work on the development of Barnsley College’s new build continues the adjacent footpath on Church Street will be closed. The footpath, due to be closed for 8 weeks, will help create a lay-by for construction traffic and enable the access of the delivery of the tower crane.
