- 5 GCSEs at Grade A* to C including English Language and preferably Maths at Grade B
Plus Good personal reference demonstrating acceptable level of attendance and commitment to hard work
Course Content
You gain an AS Level after successfully completing Year 1, you will be awarded a full A Level after successfully completing Year 2.
Year 1
An overview of the work of a Book Keeper/Accountant. The AS Level course will give you the basics needed to understand accountancy and the opportunity to progress on to further study or a career in this field.
The main focus will be placed upon book-keeping and the practical skills needed to record and present financial transactions in a small business. You will also look at how financial information is used within a business to help planning and decision making.
Year 2
You will build upon the knowledge gained at AS Level and look in greater depth at how businesses both large and small record, publish and use financial information.
You will develop a greater understanding of how to work within professional accounting guidelines.
Assessment:
Assessment is through 2 external examinations each year.
Progression
Many students who take accounting go on to study a wide range of university courses or specialise and become qualified accountants working for accountancy practices or within an organisation. Your financial acumen can support a wide number of other careers. With accountancy skills you could end up working in just about any area you choose.
What subjects can I study alongside this course?
Accountancy is complemented by a number of other A Levels including Business Studies, Economics, Law and Maths.
