Course Content
This course gives you hands on experience at our Wigfield Farm site where you will study a mixture of mostly practical and theory classes. You will start to develop the skills and knowledge needed to work in this industry and take modules in preparing for work and personal and social development. Other areas of study will include:
- Recognise small animals, parts of their body and their function
- Recognise types of housing and bedding and assist in cleaning housing for small animals
- Recognise types of food and feed small animals
- Assist with catching, restraining and grooming a small animals including health checks and maintaining health in small animals
- Show visitors around a small animal enterprise
- Recognise and feed farm animals and clean farm animal housing
What can I do next?
Employment – This course can lead to assisted work in Animal Care industry.
Education – You could progress to higher level qualifications with the College; we offer a Level 1 Diploma in Land Based Studies, Animal Care.
