Entry Requirements
- Level 2 Award Follow Health and Safety practices in the workplace or equivalent
- Initial assessment of level 1 or above
- A general interest in Beauty Therapy
Students will normally take part in an interview prior to being enrolled on the programme.
* This course makes up Level 2 NVQ in Beauty Therapy or can be studied individually

What subject areas will I study?
The programme is a preparation for work course. It is based on capability and knowledge. The course will include:
- Provide waxing techniques:
- Carry out waxing techniques in both hot and warm wax on various areas of the body
- The different waxing products and methods used in waxing
- Health and safety
- Consultation & aftercare advice
- Alternative methods of hair removal
- Science to include skin structure, function, hair structure and hair growth cycle
What equipment will I need?
You will be informed on the open evening / enrolment of the equipment costs for you to purchase. Equipment required:
Headband and hat
Tweezers/ orangewood sticks
Waxing aprons
Uniform
How will I be assessed?
During and at the end of the course you will be assessed both in practical and written. At the end of the programme there will be an online test. Both practical and online assessment must be achieved to gain the qualification.
What qualifications might I achieve?
Level 2 Award Remove hair using waxing techniques

This programme is a full cost programme (student financial assistance not available).
Tuition fees: £235.00
16 – 18 year olds
Full-time Barnsley College student’s 16-18 years old do not have to pay tuition fees.
19+ Students
