Course Content
You gain an AS Level after successfully completing Year 1, you will be awarded a full A Level after successfully completing Year 2.
Year 1
As well as promoting active Citizenship skills and participation, the first year of this course also explores questions such as:
• What does it mean to be British?
• Are we all equal citizens?
• What are my rights and responsibilities?
• How are my rights protected?
• Who can make a difference?
• How can I make a difference?
Year 2
The second year of this course will then look at topics such as:
• Power and justice
• What is crime?
• What is justice?
• Politics, power and participation
• Who speaks on our behalf?
• How is the UK governed?
• Universal human rights
• Global issues
• Making a difference

Progression
Universities are particularly interested in students who have an awareness of contemporary issues, including the various social, political and ethical dimensions, and Citizenship Studies provides many opportunities for students to develop their knowledge and skills in that respect.
What subjects can I study with this course?
AS/A2 Citizenship Studies draws on the subjects of Law, Sociology and Politics, making it a perfect complementary subject for students also interested in those subjects.
