Course Content

You can choose one of two pathways on this course; Mechanical Engineering or Fabrication and Welding. On both pathways you will study health and safety, Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Numerical Control (CNC). You will then study:

Mechanical:

  • Principles of mechanical engineering
  • Turning and milling
  • Design

Fabrication and Welding:

  • Principles of fabrication and welding
  • Welding Metal Inert Gas (MIG), Tuncsten Inert Gas (TIG) and Manual Metal Arc (MMA)
  • Pattern development

Employment - This course can form the foundations for future study and work in this industry.

Education -
You could progress onto an Advanced Apprenticeship in Engineering, and with some additional study onto Higher National Certificate or Foundation Degree Courses.
