When and how will I study?
The method of study is mainly practical work in the electrical workshop but can involve lectures, demonstrations and portfolio building.
What subject areas will I study?
The programme offers a programme of study developed for candidates to demonstrate their competence in carrying out electrical work in a range of environments. It involves wiring and testing electrical circuits as well as producing cable support systems such as conduit and trunking.
The programme is divided into 6 units of study including:
- Electrical wiring and testing
- Installing wiring support systems
- Electrical CAD
What equipment will I need?
Students should provide a calculator, normal writing materials and a basic toolkit. Some specialist tools are provided. Safety footwear is required for the Electrical workshop and overalls are recommended.
Students are encouraged to provide their own textbooks but these are available in the learning centres.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment is ongoing, and mainly through practical exercises. Some aspects are assessed through questions. All assessment is conducted internally.
What qualification might I achieve?
EAL PEO NVQ Level 2
