Entry Requirements
If you are a full-time student aged 16-18 you will need a previous Grade D in GCSE Mathematics.
There are no formal entry requirements if you are a part-time students aged over 19 or above. If you do not already have GCSE Mathematics at grade D, you may be advised to follow a course leading to the Adult Certificate in Numeracy at Level 2 prior to starting GCSE Mathematics.

When and how will I study?
This 1-year programme commences in September and is based at the SciTech Centre.
If you are a full-time student, you will undertake 3 hours of regular daytime tuition per week
What subject areas will I study?
The topics covered are:
- Number
- Data Handling
- Shape and Space
- Algebra
What equipment will I need?
You will require a scientific calculator and geometrical instruments.
How will I be assessed?
You will sit 2 examinations, each of 1.5 hours duration, at the end of the year. One will be a non-calculator paper and the other a calculator paper. Both exams are on nationally fixed dates and times during the day (not in the evening).
What qualification might I achieve?
GCSE Mathematics at Foundation Tier (maximum grade C).
Where can I go from here?
GCSE Mathematics at grade C (or above) is a specified entry requirement for a wide range of careers and HE courses.
FEES: £250. There is fee remission available.
Full-time students aged 16-18 years do not have to pay tuition fees.
