5 GCSEs at Grade A* to C including English Language and Maths
or Level 2 Apprenticeship in Joinery
plus Employed or written offer of employment in construction
plus Successful Construction Skills assessment
Course Content
The programme is offered as an Apprenticeship and involves four days per week training in a construction environment and one day attendance at College. This will involve:
- Using traditional wood-working tools
- Using specialised power or hand tools
- Cutting, shaping, smoothing and finishing
- Follow drawings, plans and written or spoken instructions
- Complex joinery work such as roofing, dorma windows and bay windows.
What can I do next?
Employment - This course can form the foundations for future work as a Joiner.
Education - You could continue with higher level qualifications. The management element of the course allows successful learners to progress onto a Level 3 management qualification.
