Course Content

Based at our Wigfield Farm site, you will gain practical experience of working in the Animal Care industry. With a mixture of practical and theory classes, you will develop the skills and underpinning knowledge required for a career within this industry. Areas of study include:

• Assist with feeding and watering animals
• Assist with the preparation and maintenance of animal accommodation
• Assist with maintaining the health and wellbeing of animals
• Assist with the handling and restraint of animals
• Safe and effective working practices in land based studies
• Animals in the wild and society

What can I do next?

Employment – This course can lead to employment as a Pet Shop Assistant, Kennel/Cattery Worker, Dog Grooming Assistant and other related roles.

Education – You could progress to higher level qualifications with the College; we offer a Level 2 Diploma in Animal Care or alternatively there is the option of a Level 2 Apprenticeship within Animal Care.
