Course Content
You gain an AS level after successfully completing Year 1, you will be awarded a full A level after successfully completing Year 2.
Year 1
The A Level Media course will be 50% practical work and 50% theory, with students undertaking two units at AS. The focus is mainly on audio/visual media, with a practical video project undertaken as part of a group. The theory units will be assessed by examination. The first year promotes an understanding of textual analysis, representation and media industries.
Year 2
The A Level Media course will be 50% practical work and 50% theory, with students undertaking two units at A2. The focus is mainly on audio/visual media, with a practical video project undertaken as part of a group. The theory units will be assessed by examination. At A2 Level you will study contemporary media issues.

Progression
Students can progress to Higher Education to study a variety of media-related courses, e.g. Film, Photography, Advertising and Media Studies. The portfolio of practical work produced on this course will also be desirable for use in interviews for employment and Higher Education. Careers include: Broadcaster, Camera Operator, Computer Animator, Film Producer, Journalist, Presenter, Production Assistant, Scriptwriter and Sound Operator.
