Course Content

This is a very practical course that provides many opportunities for instrumental development, playing in bands, rehearsing and gigging. This course will help you to understand music and music theory plus will teach you skills in:

• Rehearsal techniques for musicians
• Planning and creating a music product
• Singing
• Working as a musical ensemble
• Solo musical performance
• Exploring the music profession

What can I do next?

Employment - This course can form the foundations for future work in this industry.

Education - You could progress onto an Extended Diploma course at Barnsley College in an area such as Music or Music Technology. To do so you need to achieve a Merit grade for this Diploma plus GCSE Maths at Grade A* to C. We can offer GCSE Maths alongside this Diploma course. Many students then continue to university.
