5 GCSEs at Grade A* to C including English Language and Maths
or Level 2 Apprenticeship in Painting and Decorating
plus Employed or written offer of employment in construction
plus Successful Construction Skills assessment
Course Content
The programme is offered as an Apprenticeship and involves four days a week working in a construction environment and one day attendance at College. As an Apprentice you will learn how to:
- Estimate the quantity of material required by measuring surfaces
- Remove old coatings by stripping with solvents, heat, sanding or wire brushing
- Prepare surfaces for covering by cleaning, filling nail holes and cracks
- Applying undercoat primers or sealers before painting
- Keep up to trends and learning new techniques in painting and decorating
You will complete NVQ Level 3.
What can I do next?
Employment - This course can form the foundations for future work as a Painter and Decorator.
Education - You could continue with higher level qualifications. The management element of the course allows successful learners to progress onto a Level 3 management qualification.
