Course Content

The programme is offered as an Apprenticeship and involves four days a week working in a construction environment and one day attendance at College. As an Apprentice you will learn how to:

• Estimate the quantity of material required by measuring surfaces
• Remove old coatings by stripping with solvents, heat, sanding or wire brushing
• Prepare surfaces for covering by cleaning, filling nail holes and cracks
• Applying undercoat primers or sealers before painting
• Keep up to trends and learning new techniques in painting and decorating

You will complete NVQ Level 3.

What can I do next?

Employment - This course can form the foundations for future work as a Painter and Decorator.

Education - You could continue with higher level qualifications. The management element of the course allows successful learners to progress onto a Level 3 management qualification.
