or Successful completion of Diploma in Public Services with Merit/Distinction profile plus Level 2 Functional Skills in English

plus Good general standard of health and fitness

This course will develop your leadership and team work skills and you will take part in outdoor and adventurous expeditions, as well as work on fitness testing and training.  You will also look at career options, employment opportunities and volunteering within the sector. Units of study will include:

  • Government, policies, citizenship and diversity
  • Police powers, the legal system and law making process
  • Crime and its effects on society
  • Command and control
  • Planning and management of major incidents
  • Responding to emergency service incidents

What can I do next?

Employment – You could progress into employment in the Uniformed Public Services sector. Previous students have entered the Armed Forces, Fire Service, Prison Service, Police Service and the National Health Service.

Education – You could progress onto Higher Education within many subject areas.  Previous students have studied on courses ranging from Criminology and Forensics to International Relations.
