Entry Requirements

5 GCSEs at Grade A* to C including English Language or Level 2 Functional Skills in English

or Successful completion of the Level 2 Diploma in Sport with Merit/Distinction profile

plus This course is aimed at Athletes (e.g. Football, Netball, Basketball, Rugby, Individual Athletes, etc.) who have performed at representative level including County, Schools or within professional clubs

Course Content

You will develop your technical and tactical skills in sport, including sports coaching and practical team sports.  You will also look at the athlete’s lifestyle and how to assess risk in sport.  Course content will include:

  • Principles of anatomy and physiology in sport
  • Fitness testing and training for sport and exercise
  • Sports nutrition
  • Sports injuries and massage
  • Analysis and psychology of sports performance
  • Sports coaching

What can I do next?

Employment - You could progress onto a career as a Fitness Instructor, Leisure Operative, Sports Administrator, Community Sports Coach, or Activity Leader.

Education - You could progress onto Higher Education to study a range of sports related degrees.
