You’re Welcome’ at Barnsley College28 Mar 2011
Barnsley College has once again been recognised by the NHS as they became the first and only College in the country to be awarded a ‘You’re Welcome’ Award. The award is a standard of quality awarded by the NHS and recognises the commitment to make health services young people friendly and has, in the past, been reserved for NHS organisations.
Polly Harrow, Head of Personalised Learning at the College was again at the forefront of the award. She had to put together a rigorous report outlining how the College has met the criteria for the award, covering 10 separate areas and how the College has made health services more accessible for the young people of Barnsley.
The feedback from the judging panel was outstanding, stating that they had never received such a comprehensive submission. The College application is now used as an exemplar for all other applicants and highlights the hard work and dedication of all the staff involved. The submission illustrated exactly what the NHS are trying to achieve within the FE sector and this award highlights the excellent quality of support students can expect when they are at College.
Polly will be formally presented with the award in the coming weeks and is hoping to build on the fantastic reputation the College is gaining on a national level, ‘We are all working extremely hard to promote the good work that is going on at the College. We are committed to providing the best possible standards of health and wellbeing support to all our students and awards like this highlight the fact that we are heading in the right direction.’
More information will follow this story following the presentation of the award.
