Barnsley College Reach Regional Final31 Jan 2012

Barnsley College’s Female Football Development Squad has reached the regional final of the British College Sport National Cup. The team beat Balby Carr College 4-2 in a hard fought semi-final match.

Barnsley fell behind after a well delivered corner to Balby Carr just 5 minutes into the game. However, Barnsley came back to go into half time 1-1 following a corner delivered by Beth England.

Barnsley College started the second half positively with a well-deserved second goal. This was through good teamwork from Chelsea Burke and Beth England providing Laura Elford with the ball to tap in. Barnsley continued to press and team captain Charlie Evans scored a third with a low 20 yards strike from a short corner.

Balby Carr managed to pull a goal back before Barnsley’s Hailey Robinson scored from the left to secure their place in the regional final against Wakefield College or Hartlepool College.  Player of the match was presented to Barnsley College’s Jade Beckett whose game was cut short with an ankle injury following a tackle in the final minutes of the game.
