The LC provides access to many types of learning materials, including books, DVDs, CDs, e-book readers, newspapers and journals, computers and laptops. Alongside this traditional library stock there is access to electronic information resources such as online full text newspapers, electronic books, etc.
The LC provides dedicated access to a fully searchable computerised catalogue. This lists all resources that can be used by students.
Materials not held in the LC can be obtained through an inter-library loan service for which there is a small administration fee of £1.
You can book in advance or just drop in to use the computers. There are also laptops and graphics tablets that are available for use in college on production of your student card. All our PCs and laptops have Microsoft Office available which includes Word, Excel, Access and Publisher. We also have access to text and image scanners. If you don’t have your own laptop, we have a number of them available to hire for £10 per month.
All networked computers have Internet access. You should refer to the Internet User Policy and Code of Practice prior to using the Internet. Any breach of this policy is regarded as a serious disciplinary matter.
Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)
Access to the VLE (Moodle) is provided on computers with Internet access. The Learning Curve presence on Moodle provides access to MyDay, information about The Learning Curve facilities and services, links to electronic resources and user education information (e.g. study guides).
There are photocopiers/printers on each of the LC floors and balconies.
Projects and assignments can be bound or laminated at a reasonable cost at any of the LC counters.
Stationery, USBs and Earphones
We sell a small range of reasonably priced stationery, memory sticks and earphones.
