Supporting your child into college
Starting college is an exciting time for young people, they have made a real choice about staying on in education and no doubt you will have many questions regarding the various aspects of the College and college life. We hope that the information on this website will enable parents and guardians to answer some of these questions.
Have a look at our Year 11 Parent Handbook: What’s Next? which has a wealth of information about our different pathways, the application process and what financial support is available. You might also like to look at the newsletters we publish, read our latest news stories and see what events we have planned.
For parents of prospective students we also hold an annual Parent Information Evening. This year it will be on Thursday 22 September in our Old Mill Lane campus and is aimed specifically at parents/carers of Year 11 school pupils. We include presentations on A Levels, Vocational Pathways and Apprenticeships to give information about the different pathways that we offer. All our academic departments are present with tutors available to talk to visitors about their subjects.
Of the parents who attended the event last year, 86% spoke to a tutor about a specific course, 100% found the staff helpful and 100% said they found the event useful.
