Our Level 2 Painting and Decorating students have been getting practical experience by decorating the community room used by residents at Barnsley’s Independent Domestic Abuse Services (IDAS).
IDAS provided the College with a brief on what was required. The students used their painting and wallpapering skills to refresh the room and decorated the walls and ceiling to give it a brand new look. It took them three days to finish the room where they used painting and decorating techniques such as cutting-in, priming surfaces, applying paste and hanging wall paper.
Chris Hopper, Course Leader for Painting and Decorating, said: “Industry experience like this is invaluable as it helps our students to get the ‘real life’ skills they will need for a successful career within the industry. I would like to thank IDAS for providing this opportunity for our students.”
Heather Brennan, Manager at IDAS, said: “The residents are really pleased with the room which looks great. The students have done an excellent job, thank you.”
