New and returning students at Barnsley College have marked the start of the academic year in style at a special welcome event.
Hundreds of learners attended the event at the College’s Old Mill Lane campus which included fun activities such as glitter and henna tattoo application by specialist artists, a candy floss machine, a photo booth and various games.
Representatives from Barnsley Youth Council, South Yorkshire Police, South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and the I Know I Can Young Volunteers programme were also in attendance to give out information to students.
Justine Nolan-Scarfe, Learner Voice Adviser at the College, said: “It was great to see so many new and existing students come along to the event to meet other learners and find out about the wealth of enrichment activities and pastoral support available to them. We received excellent feedback both on the information available over the day and the activities which took place.”
Harriet Gaskin, a Level 3 Certificate in Childcare and Education student, said: “The event was a good opportunity to meet other students, learn more about College life and enjoy all the activities on the day.”
