On Monday 1 April 2019 the amount non-levy paying businesses pay towards the cost of apprenticeship training will be halved from 10% to 5%.
Non-levy paying businesses will pay 5% towards to the cost of apprenticeship training and the government will pay the remainder.
All apprenticeships started before Monday 1 April 2019 will continue at the current co-investment rate of 10% until the apprentice completes their programme.
Suzan McGladdery, Director of Business Development at Barnsley College, said: “We are delighted with this announcement as many of the employers we work with are non-levy paying businesses. This will reduce the financial burden many small and medium sized businesses face and hopefully encourage more employers to utilise the apprenticeship model to train new and existing employees.”
