Barnsley College has been listed at number 30 in the National Centre for Diversity’s (NCFD) top 100 index in a glittering awards ceremony at the International Convention Centre in Birmingham.

The NCFD hosted their first annual grand awards evening to celebrate commitment and recognise the shining examples of excellent work around equality, diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

The top 100 index was launched as part of the NCFD’s 10 year anniversary celebrations and was determined using the key data from the Investors in Diversity or Leaders in Diversity diagnostics, such as senior leadership, succession planning and external leadership, or by completing a separate diagnostic.

The evening brought together some of the country’s most innovative, inspiring and influential people to celebrate the achievements of the some of the biggest organisations from across the UK, ranging from Northern Rail to Yorkshire Coast Homes.

Christopher Webb, Chief Executive and Principal of Barnsley College, said: “We at Barnsley College pride ourselves on providing students and staff with an inclusive and diverse environment in which to learn and work. We are delighted that our commitment to making the college open to people of all backgrounds and cultures has been recognised at the NCFD awards.”

Solat Chaudhry, Chief Executive of the NCFD, added: “I am incredibly proud and thankful to all those who attended our first grand awards evening. I want to offer huge congratulations to all of our award winners, each of our award winners and those who were shortlisted were very deserving of this level of recognition. I hope to see even more members of the NCFD family at next year’s awards evening!”
