Barnsley College meets King Rose

A newspaper folded over

Barnsley’s up and coming Blues and Indie band, King Rose, was formed in late 2017 by past and present Barnsley College students and is making noise on the music scene.

Band members Jonathan Bradbury, Craig Roystone and Ben Paramore, have said to be influenced by Rory Gallagher and Ed Sheeran; drawing from these influences to write songs.

King Rose describe themselves as multifaceted and versatile as their musical chameleon abilities and their skills allow them to explore a variety of genres through their music.

BA (Hons) Popular Music student, Jonathan, has credited Barnsley College throughout his musical journey with the band. He said: “I would definitely recommend Barnsley College Higher Education; the tutors, the company, the accessibility and the opportunities you get should not be underestimated.

“I can easily communicate with all of my tutors and learning is more efficient due to the one-to-one time you have with them. It’s really accessible with regards to working with and meeting people. The campus is so close to home, giving me the chance to work on my hobbies and career alongside my studies – plus the free rehearsal space is great!”

The BA (Hons) Popular Music course at Barnsley College prepares students for a career in the music industry as modules provide practical and academic experience which is deemed to be of a professional standard within the music industry, culminating in all students working professionally as part of their final year work experience.
