Barnsley College is one of 12 colleges to receive funding to train staff to deliver effective careers training for disadvantaged students as part of the personal guidance project.
The project is aiming to strengthen and extend the reach of the College’s existing personal guidance delivery. The funding will be used to train curriculum staff to deliver effective careers training which supports every student to receive a personal guidance interview. This will include providing support for students from disadvantaged backgrounds and special educational needs.
Jess Leech, Assistant Principal for Students at Barnsley College, said: “We are really pleased to be part of the personal guidance project. Here at Barnsley College we don’t only offer a wide range of qualifications but also lots of support to help our students succeed and go on to achieve the career they want. The extra funding will help us to explore the effectiveness of different approaches to career guidance and make sure we are offering the best possible support to our students.”
