To celebrate Big Energy Saving Week, Barnsley College is hosting an event to help local residents save money and become more energy efficient. The event will take place at the Think Low Carbon Centre, Honeywell campus, between Tuesday 27 October and Thursday 29 October, 10.00am to 4.00pm.
Big Energy Saving Week is a national campaign designed to help householders across the UK reduce their energy bills by checking they are on the best deal, switching tariff or supplier and saving energy by taking control of their heating and electricity.
Visitors to the event will have the opportunity to find out more about green technologies and get advice on energy efficiency, water conservation, how to cut their energy bills and how to reduce, reuse and recycle.
Tours of the Think Low Carbon Centre, which has been built with the latest energy efficient materials, will take place where visitors will have the chance to see working examples of low carbon and green technologies.
There will also be lots of fun activities taking place for children including face painting and the opportunity to ‘grow your own veg’.
Gavin Lee, Head of Construction Crafts at the college, said: “This is a great opportunity for visitors to come along, have a look around the Think Low Carbon Centre and get advice on how they can save money and reduce their energy consumption.”
