Second year Graphic Design students competed against each other in the Barnsley College App Design Challenge hosted by Bolser an award winning digital marketing agency.
For the challenge each group were given an object such as the dictionary or a fridge. Their task was to take these objects and turn them into an appealing and stimulating digital product. This provided an opportunity for students to come up with something creative and engaging.
The students started the day by discussing existing apps, the brief, their objects and generating ideas. This was a great opportunity to share some practical knowledge and see the great concepts the students were coming up with.
Liam Cordon, Graphic Design student, said “Working with Adam from Bolser was very interesting as we received an insight from someone in the industry. This gave us valuable experience and knowledge in a vital area of modern design, application design.”
Jade Jenkinson, Teacher of Graphic Design, added: “This is the second time we have worked with Bolser on the ‘make a boring topic, fun’ app design brief and both times have been excellent experiences for all the learners involved. It has provided opportunities for them to improve their presentation skills and an understanding of how to approach a professional brief.”
