Barnsley College has joined forces with British Gypsum to offer an Interior Systems Apprenticeship (ISA) to those wishing to pursue a career in the construction trades.
Over the course of two years, apprentices will work alongside experienced staff to gain job specific skills in all internal aspects of construction with a key focus on the Drylining, Plastering or Partitioning Systems pathway.
Students who are interested in the ISA will also study for one day per week at The CUBE, the college’s newly built Construction Centre, which houses innovative and inspiring work areas with industry-led equipment.
Upon completion of the ISA, apprentices will have the opportunity to progress on to Higher Education at University Campus Barnsley (UCB) or continue to develop their career with British Gypsum.
Dave Hall, National Technical Academy Manager at British Gypsum, said: “As the UK’s leading manufacturer of plaster, plasterboard and drylining systems, we are committed to training and developing the next generation of skilled trades people into the industry. By collaborating with training providers like Barnsley College, we can ensure vital core skills and career opportunities are available to the next generation of experts.”
Gavin Lee, Construction Programme Manager at Barnsley College, added, “This new partnership is a unique opportunity for people to enter the construction industry and develop the skills and knowledge required.”
