Business and Management Services students take part in National Citizen Service project

Business and Management Services students have taken part in the National Citizen Service (NCS) project over a period of two weeks.

This involved a four day/three night residential where learners took part in activities such as rock climbing, canoeing, caving and hill walking.

In the second week of the project learners took part in volunteering and a social action enterprise project in the community. They also attended workshops in: understanding your town/community, First Aid, understanding different cultures, self-defence and took part in a political discussion.
On 24 November Julie Beaumont, Head of Department of Business and Management Services, along with two Course Leaders went to the NCS graduation at Barnsley Football Club where the learners graduated from the programme. Students presented their action research projects and also received personalised awards and certificates of achievements which were signed by Prime Minister David Cameron.
This was a valuable experience for the students and they gained a range of skills in: responsibility, independence, communication with peers, mixing with a diverse range of people, teamwork, facing challenges, overcoming their fears and planning and delivering a presentation.
