Business students raise funds for Barnsley Hospice

Barnsley College Business students raised over £450 for Barnsley Hospice by participating in the Accumulator Challenge.

Each February, Barnsley Hospice’s Accumulator Challenge sets local businesses the task of turning £28 into as much money as possible for the Hospice during the 28 days of February.

Two teams from the College participated in the Apprentice style challenge, competing against each other to raise the most money. The students organised a range of fundraising activities including raffles, baking and selling cakes, sponsored walks, and ‘kidnapping’ senior members of the College’s management team and holding them to ransom.

Steve Willmer, Tutorial Learning Mentor at the College, said: “It’s great that our students and staff got involved in this challenge which provides them with the chance to display their entrepreneurial spirit and develop their accountancy, communication and team working skills whilst raising funds for a local charity.”
