Our Business students have raised £358.56 for the Children’s Heart Surgery Fund (CHSF) by organising and hosting an Afternoon Tea Party.

The event was held at the college and the students organised musicians, a raffle, quiz and photo booth along with afternoon tea as part of their curriculum.

Natalie Hanley, one of the organising students said: “I’m proud to be the team that organised this event to raise funds for a charity so close to my heart.
“My brother, Liam, has a heart defect and CHSF has provided invaluable support to both Liam and my family. Being able to host this event and increase awareness of the fantastic work this worthy charity does, whilst improving my leadership skills has been a fantastic experience.”

Liam, aged 10, added: “It’s great that the event has been held to raise money for a charity that’s helping the hospital to do more to support people that have had to go into hospital.”

Samuel Lendore, Business tutor at Barnsley College said: “Events like these provide our students with a fantastic way for them to gain practical experience of organising and hosting an event whilst improving their organisation and communication skills.”
