Cambridge University graduate Ling Fang Cao has made Barnsley the latest stop on his illustrious educational journey.
Ling gained a degree in Applied Mathematics from Cambridge before completing a Masters degree in the same subject from Bristol University, having left his Chinese hometown of Guanghou to come to the UK at the age of 12.
He is now studying a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) at University Campus Barnsley (UCB) and is enhancing his teaching experience by working within the Engineering department at Barnsley College, teaching the aspects of science which are underpinned by Mathematics.
The 25-year-old landed in Barnsley in March 2014 after a search online for teaching courses within the UK directed him to the UCB website. He completed a six-month teaching programme at Barnsley College before beginning his PGCE in September 2014.
He said: “I am enjoying my time advancing my career by studying for my PGCE at UCB and gaining teaching experience at the college. It is always busy which is great and I am gaining valuable skills by teaching both Further Education and Higher Education courses.
“Working with the other staff has been really beneficial as they are all experienced and have been very supportive towards me.”
