Career take off for former students

Two former students have secured employment overseas after successfully completing their Level 3 Travel and Tourism course.

Jade Danforth, 18, of Toll Bar Road, Swinton, is working as an overseas representative delivering the ‘Learn to swim and ride’ lessons at Eurocamp, La Pointe St-Gilles, Benodet in Brittany. Jade also sets up and maintains the mini play area throughout the day which holidaymakers can enjoy.

Anna Colville, 18, of South Place, Wombwell, has started working for Eurocamp as a campsite courier in the South of France. Her duties are to ensure that customers receive a holiday that meets and exceeds their expectations by providing a high level of customer care. She has received training on various administration duties including accommodation charts, stock checks and basic accounts.

Anna said: “Studying at Barnsley College has prepared me for the process of gaining employment in the travel and tourism industry. Some of the units on my course included preparing for employment, holiday representatives and customer service. All of the units contributed to my knowledge and helped me in the interview process. The support I have received from the travel and tourism tutors is immeasurable.”

Rebekah Cook, Travel and Tourism Course Leader, added: “I’m proud to see our former students successfully gain employment. Both students are very talented and have developed a passion for the travel and tourism industry.”
