Our Catering students have gained valuable catering experience by serving and preparing food for the British Frozen Food Federation Awards.

Students served frozen foods from various competing companies to a panel of judges who are all members of the Craft Guild of Chefs. The products were prepared by students in Barnsley College’s state-of-the-art catering facilities.

Martyn Hollingsworth, Catering and Hospitality course leader at the College, said: “It’s important for our students to understand the different varieties of careers in catering and food judging is one career path that is available to them. It was a great experience to be part of the judging process and the students fully enjoyed themselves.”

Paul Murray, Head of Commercial at the British Frozen Food Federation, added: “The students appeared to enjoy their experience so much they were disappointed when it came to an end. We hope their time helping us during this vital process has expanded their career horizons and helped them appreciate the world of possibilities that a career in catering can truly offer.”
