Academic Skills for Returning to Study Digital Level 2 Award Part-time

The course will start on Friday 28 April 2023. The course will last for five weeks and you will study on Fridays from 9.15am to 4.15pm.

Entry requirements

No existing entry requirements are needed as the course is designed to support development of the required academic skills across all levels. However, there does need to be a desire to apply the skills in a creative or digital setting.

You will achieve

Level 2 Award in Progression.

Course overview

Have you been out of education a few years and want to study again? Wish to upskill and/or retrain to improve your chances of getting a new job in the creative digital industry?

Our intensive five-day returning to study course will prepare you and help develop your confidence for studying at College, whether this be for a short course, an Access to Higher Education course, or our Higher Education programmes.

The course will be pitched at Level 2 and will prepare you for studying on a Level 3 or higher-level course.

Course content

The course will be split into five key projects embedded through the creative digital industries and will support you to develop all the required academic skills needed to study in Further or Higher Education to maximise your success.

The themes will be:
• Critical thinking – including communication skills
• Research skills – including study skills, presentation skills, academic writing and Harvard referencing
• Managing own learning – including personal development and reflection

You will be assessed using a range of methods and present your work in a portfolio. You will be supported in this. This portfolio will be used to assess your progress on the course.

All equipment will be provided.

How much does the course cost?

£225. Funding may be available for this course depending on your personal circumstances.

Having good English and Maths qualifications are important for most careers and we want to give you the help you need to succeed.

If you are aged 16 – 19 and don’t already have a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths they will automatically be included in your study programme. If you want to work towards higher grades in English and Maths we can help you do that too.

Need a higher level Maths qualification? We offer a Level 3 Mathematical Studies (Core Maths).

This can be added to your study programme.
