Assessing Vocational Achievement Level 3 Work-based

This is a flexible programme and can start at various times throughout the year and will take a minimum of 24 weeks to complete.

Entry requirements

You should be at least 19 years old with a suitable Level 3 qualification in Childcare, Health and Social Care or Clinical Health.

You will achieve

Level 3 qualification in Assessing Vocational Achievement.

Course overview

If you like the idea of motivating and encouraging people from all walks of life and enjoy working at varied locations, this job could be exactly what you are looking for. To become an assessor you will need work experience in the sector you plan to assess.  As well as having an interest in helping people develop, a good assessor has a lot of patience, can write accurate reports and is good at keeping records up to date.

Course content

The certificate requires 15 credits:

  • Understanding the principles and practices of assessment
  • Access occupational competence in the work environment
  • Access vocational skills, knowledge and understanding

You will be assessed through work based assessments in the workplace and various evidence methods throughout the programme, building up a portfolio.

You will be required to provide a lever arch file, plastic wallets, dividers pen and paper. A copy of the standards will be given to you by your tutor on your first visit.

You will study theory at Barnsley College, Old Mill Lane campus, Church Street, Barnsley and will also be assessed in your place of work.

How much does the course cost?

Course fees: £800 full fee payable.
