Bricklayers Technical Occupational Entry for Craft Level 3 Diploma Part-time

Are you interested in a hands-on career that involves creating and maintaining structures? As a bricklayer, you will work on varied projects including building walls, chimneys, walkways, and foundations. You may also engage in restoration work. To excel, you’ll need to be physically fit, capable of reading plans, and organised. If you enjoy practical tasks and want a fulfilling career, bricklaying might be the perfect fit for you.

Course content

The qualification is structured with the following units:

  • Principles of organising, planning and pricing construction work

  • Repair and maintain masonry structures

  • Constructing radial and battered brickwork

  • Carrying out decorative and reinforced brickwork

  • Constructing fireplaces and chimneys

  • Health, safety and welfare in construction

Course Content

  • You will need to hold GCSE English and Maths qualifications at grade D/3 or above.

You will be assessed by on-going practical assessments in the workshop environment and you will complete theory exams to test your knowledge and understanding of the construction industry and bricklaying practices.

You will need to provide and wear steel toe-cap boots. All other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided You will need to bring a basic stationery set to contribute to classroom sessions effectively.

Diploma

On completion of the course, you can go on to employment or apply for apprenticeship role.

Having good English and Maths qualifications are important for most careers and we want to give you the help you need to succeed.

If you are aged 16 - 19 and don't hold a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths, you will automatically be included in your study programme. If you want to work towards achieving a higher grade in English and Maths, we can help you do that too and we offer Level 3 Mathematical Studies (Core Maths) which maybe added to your study programme, subject to approval from your chosen department.

If you're aged 19 or above and don't hold a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths we can help. We offer FREE English and Maths qualifications that can be studied on a part-time basis, subject to eligibility.
