Course overview

Journalism is one of the fastest paced and changing industries there is. Modern journalism isn’t just about writing: it’s about film, photography, podcasts, blogging and vlogging.  If you want a career in journalism and love communicating using social media, then this could be the course for you.

Course content

This Level 3 Extended Diploma provides hands-on experience in a variety of activities, such as radio production and broadcasting, audio production, TV broadcasting, events, and journalism as well as planning and producing a variety of creative productions. You will use industry standard hardware and software in order to generate a series of creative products that will be displayed in a final portfolio/showreel.

You will be assessed on your practical work and coursework.

You will need writing materials, paper, A4 folders and a USB memory stick.

Employment- This course can form the foundations for future study and work in a variety of industries including radio presenting, advertising and marketing, journalism, TV presenting, design work plus many more.

Education- This Extended Diploma allows you to pick from a wide range of Higher Education courses. Subjects such as Radio Production, Advertising and Marketing,
Journalism, TV Production and Events Management are amongst some of the courses that previous students have progressed onto at university

How much does the course cost?

16 – 18 year olds

Full-time Barnsley College students aged 16-18 years old do not have to pay tuition fees.

19+ Students
