Introduction to Broadcasting for Beginners provides learners with a practical understanding of video production and broadcasting techniques. Covering aspects of production, from camera, audio, and lighting to digital video editing, special effects, and more, learners will develop an understanding in identifying what makes something ‘newsworthy’ and how to consider different angles to approach a subject.

This short course also covers research methods, interviewing and presenting techniques as well as content creation that appeals to different audiences whilst being tailored to suit different platforms.

Course content

Within the Introduction to Broadcasting for Beginners topics and subject matter are open to whatever suits your own needs and interests (e.g. business news, social issues, food and lifestyle, crime, health, community news etc.), with plenty of opportunity to experiment with ideas.

This dynamic course is ideal for those who are new to journalism and want to develop their understanding and confidence with a variety of key media skills.

Upon completion of this course learners will also cover:

  • History of broadcasting
  • Broadcasting Capture, Edit and Program Creation
  • Broadcast regulation and the effects of electronic mass media;
  • Process and strategies of broadcasting within industry
