Course overview

 NVQ Level 4 in Business Administration is for learners who work in Business Administration in roles such as: Office Manager, Business Development Manage and Executive Assistant Project Manager It gives learners the opportunity to:
  • develop the specific types of knowledge to underpin learners competence as well as the wider sector related knowledge related to the job roles above. This includes the principles underpinning the resolution of administrative problems, the knowledge related to the management of an administrative function and the knowledge related to business communication models, systems and processes
  • develop and demonstrate a range of technical skills and behaviours that supports competence in the job roles stated above. This includes being able to identify administrative problems, being able to resolve administrative problems, being able to organise the work of an administrative function, being able to manage administrative workflows and being able to use both written and verbal communication in business
  • develop their own personal growth and engagement in learning through the development of personal, learning and thinking skills (PLTS)
  • have existing skills recognised
  • achieve a nationally-recognised Level 4 qualification
Students learn practical, work-related tasks designed to help them develop the skills and knowledge needed to do a job effectively.NVQs are usually delivered in the workplace. They can be taken by full-time employees or by college students with a work placement or a part-time job.

Course content

You will have an assessor who will work closely with you, often visiting you in your workplace. They will also keep in touch with you via email, telephone and drop-in workshops.

You will produce a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your competence in working in an administrative role. The portfolio can be presented as a traditional paper based file or as an electronic file using the Onefile e-portfolio.

How will I be assessed?

Continuous assessment of evidence produced and accompanying written reports.

What equipment will I need?

You will be required to provide paper, writing materials, A4 ring binder file, extra wide dividers and clear plastic wallets.

Where will I study?

You will study in your place of work.

What can I do next?

On successful completion of the programme you can seek employment as a receptionist, clerical assistant or administrator.
