Start Date / Duration

Choir members enrol at the start of each of the three terms, September, January and April and rehearsals take place on Tuesday evenings throughout term time, 7.00pm-9.00pm. The next start date is Tuesday 18 April 2023.

You do not need to read music and there are no auditions.

Course overview

Have you always wanted to be part of a choir? Would you like to meet people, have fun and perform in a group?

Barnsley Community Choir is for anyone who has a love for singing and enjoys meeting other people. Each session begins with technical exercises and warm-ups to improve and maintain the voice, this is followed by group singing activities.

Course content

As lovers of music and singing, the course will include rehearsals whether physical or using online platforms and allow you to develop concerts and various performances throughout the year. This course also provides an opportunity for you to perform in our college theatre or drama studio as well as within the community.

Recent events have included carol singing at the RSPB sanctuary, recording backing vocals for a hospice fundraising song and raising money for charities including Mind, Meningitis UK, Barnsley Recovery College and IDAS Women’s Refuge.


All equipment will be provided but you may want to bring a file and a pencil to rehearsals.
