Course overview

This Apprenticeship covers roles across the creative and digital media industries. You will develop an understanding of the end to end production cycle in relation to different platforms e.g. audio, visual, interactive and emerging technologies.

Course content

You will study all of the mandatory units from the list below which relate to your job role.
Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Design mandatory units:

  • Research a design concept
  • Write a design brief
  • Interpret a design brief and follow the design process
  • Understand the concept and techniques used in branding
  • Develop and extend critical and creative thinking skills
  • Collaborate in a creative process
  • Understand market research
  • Develop a presentation
  • Deliver a presentation
  • Working with costs and budgets
  • Balance business needs and personal life

Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Art & Design mandatory and optional units:

  • Visual recording in Art and Design
  • Materials, techniques and processes in Art and Design
  • Ideas and concepts in Art and Design
  • Communication through Art and Design
  • Digital photography
  • Graphic design
  • Web design
  • Interior design
  • Merchandising
  • Interactive media
  • Audio, visual production
  • Typography and layout

You will also study:

  • Employment, Rights and Responsibilities (ERR) Booklet
  • Level 2 Functional Skills in English, maths and ICT (if required)
  • Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS)

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed by your assessor using a portfolio of evidence, practical demonstrations and assignments. You will be assessed both in College and in your place of work.

What equipment will I need?

You will need a folder, plastic wallets, dividers and a USB device.

What can I do next?

Upon completion you could progress onto the Level 4 Higher Apprenticeship in Advertising and Marketing or apply for job roles including:

How much does the course cost?

There is no cost to being an apprentice. All costs associated with your apprenticeship, including the cost of training and your salary, will be paid by your employer.

English and Maths

Having good English and maths qualifications are important for most careers and we want to give you the help you need to succeed.

If you are aged 16 – 19 and don’t already have a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and maths they will automatically be included in your study programme. If you want to work towards higher grades in English and maths or a higher level maths qualification we can help you do that too.
