Entry requirements

There is no requirement for you to have achieved any qualifications or units prior to undertaking this qualification, however a reasonable standard of computing skills will be required to complete this course.

Course overview

This course provides you with the knowledge, skills and behaviours you’ll need to work in digital and creative industries. You will carry out a project bringing together aspects of the entire range of course content.

By gaining this qualification, you can progress to our Access to Higher Education programme in Creative Digital Industries if you are looking to study at university-level.

Course content

This is a broad creative and digital industries qualification that supports progression to a number of Level 3 programmes including games design or games development, IT or creative media or the arts.

You will develop knowledge, understanding skills and behaviours in key areas in creative and digital industries with the opportunity to focus on areas such as graphic design, games design and development, website design, audio production and animation.

You will do three units from the following list:

Mandatory unit:
• Preparing to Work in the Digital and Creative Industries (3 credits)

Optional units (you must study a total of 12 credits):
• 2D Digital Imaging (6 credits)
• 3D Modelling (6 credits)
• Animation (6 credits)
• Computer Games Design and Development (6 credits)
• Digital Photography (6 credits)
• Digital and Creative Industries Project (6 credits)
• Graphic Design (6 credits)
• Interactive Media (6 credits)
• Mobile App Development (6 credits)
• Sound Production (6 credits)

You will be assessed using a range of methods such as practical tasks and written coursework that will culminate in a portfolio of evidence. This portfolio will be used to determine your grade.
