There are no formal entry requirements. However, knowledge of computers and the internet would be an advantage.

You will achieve

You won’t achieve a formal qualification, but upon completion you will receive a Barnsley College certificate.

Course overview

This course is designed to give you an overview of various business opportunities available on the internet, such as affiliate marketing, blogging, creating digital art to sell and ecommerce platforms. You will be able to make informed decisions on the creation of an online business or improve an existing business.

This course can be taken as a stand-alone course or as part of a suite of courses designed to identify, create and market an online business.

Course content

The course will look at various online opportunities, with the focus on:

  • Blogging
  • Affiliate marketing
  • Online retail platforms
  • YouTube video creation
  • Website development
  • Student-led discussions

Throughout the course you will look at different areas of opportunity and you will learn how to:

  • Identify an online opportunity
  • Describe the pros and cons of these methods
  • Create a plan to implement an online opportunity

You will be assessed by completing practical tests and a written report.

All equipment will be provided.
