Course overview

Ever wished you could do what David Attenborough does? Do you have a story to tell?
Well here is a short course just for you.

During our Digital Video: Documentary Storytelling short course, you will explore the rich genre of documentary film, developing a greater understanding of the form and documentary filmmaking techniques.

You will then learn practical filmmaking skills in order to bring your story to documentary life by learning to script write, compose, capture and edit assets that you create as part of this journey.

We love stories, messages and experiences – let us bring these together to create a strong experience and narrative that is both visual and challenging.

Course content

From creating, capturing and editing, learn to use traditional and modern documentary techniques that support digital video based asset development.

On this course you will learn the following:

  • Documentary Methods
  • Research and Planning
  • Scriptwriting and Storytelling Techniques
  • Directing and Storyboarding
  • Rhythm and Pace
  • Composition, Capture and Editing
  • Visual Styles and Effects
  • Sound Capture
  • Output formats – digital platforms
