Electrical Installations (Buildings and Structures) Level 2 Diploma Part-time

This Level 2 qualification, designed for new industry entrants, provides essential skills for the electrical sector but does not qualify you as a fully certified electrician. Known as the C&G 2365.

The City and Guilds qualification includes mandatory units:

  • Unit 201 Health and Safety and Industry Practices

  • Unit 202 Electrical Science

  • Unit 203 Electrical Installation

  • Unit 204 Electrical Technology

Course Fees and Funding

How much does the course cost?

The course fee is £1362 .  There may be help for those on low wages or receiving benefits. For those aged between 19-23 who do not hold a Level 2, there may also be exemptions which apply.

Part-time courses are only available for students who are 19 years old and above. You may not have to pay for this course if you are employed but earn below £23,400 a year, or if you are unemployed and receive Job Seekers Allowance, Employment and Support Allowance or Universal Credit. You will need to provide evidence of your eligibility and this will be required at enrolment.

This course is funded by South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) and/or West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA). You must be living in the South or West Yorkshire regions to qualify for funding.

Course Content

  • You must be aged 19 or older at the start of the course.

  • This course will require GCSE grade C/4 or above in Maths and English as you will need to complete scientific and mathematical formulas aligned to Electrical Installation theory. This will be discussed further on application.  A maths assessment may be needed before a place on the course is secured.

You will be assessed through a combination of synoptic assignment and externally assessed exam.

You will need to provide: Overalls and steel toecap safety footwear Highlighter pens and a basic geometry set Scientific calculator Some course related books may also be suggested

Diploma

Upon successful completion, this qualification will provide you with the practical skills and knowledge to further progress your learning within the electrical industry, such as the Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Installation or an Electrotechnical Apprenticeship.

Having good English and Maths qualifications are important for most careers and we want to give you the help you need to succeed.

If you are aged 16 - 19 and don't hold a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths, you will automatically be included in your study programme. If you want to work towards achieving a higher grade in English and Maths, we can help you do that too and we offer Level 3 Mathematical Studies (Core Maths) which can be added to your study programme.

If you're aged 19 or above and don't hold a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths we can help. We offer FREE English and Maths qualifications that can be studied on a part-time basis, subject to eligibility.
