This course will start on 7 September 2021 and will run on a Tuesday evening from 6.00pm-8.00pm for 8 weeks.

Entry requirements

This course is aimed at beginners. A general interest in music and production is recommended.

You will achieve

This course is not formally assessed. On completion of the course you will be awarded a Barnsley College certificate.

Course overview

This course is a practical and fun introduction to mixing and mastering music…..

It is suitable for anyone with an interest in writing and producing music on a computer. You will work in small groups and individually in our music production suites; supported by our knowledgeable, friendly staff.

Course content

You will be shown, over an 8-Week period, a variety of production techniques for writing and producing music.

This will include an introduction to our industry standard, Cubase based, digital audio workstations and related music equipment.

You will cover:

  • Sequencing systems
  • MIDI Sequencing
  • Audio Sequencing
  • Recording audio
  • Working with samples and loops
  • Editing
  • Processing
  • Mix down/exporting

Although this course will not be formerly assessed, observations will be used throughout top track progress and to add additional support.
