This two-year Level 2 course is perfect for beginners in the electrical industry. You'll learn key skills in safety, electrical science, installation, and technology, plus get 45 days of hands-on experience. It's a great start for a career or apprenticeship in building services engineering. Developed with top employers, you'll study in a dedicated STEM centre and learn about installing and maintaining electrical systems, along with safe working practices

How much does the course cost?

Full-time Barnsley College students aged 16-18 years old do not have to pay tuition fees.

Course Content

Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above including Maths and English at grade 5 or above.

  • Health and safety

  • Design and planning

  • Systems and components

  • Inspect and test systems and components

  • Report and information

  • Handover and communication

  • Working with faults

You will need to provide writing and drawing equipment and a scientific calculator. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided.

T Level Technical Qualification

This qualification focuses on the development of knowledge and skills needed for working in the building services engineering industry, which will prepare you to enter the industry through employment or as an apprentice. Furthermore, the completion of this qualification gives you the opportunity to progress onto Higher Education courses and training.

Having good English and Maths qualifications are important for most careers and we want to give you the help you need to succeed.

If you are aged 16 - 19 and don't hold a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths, you will automatically be included in your study programme. If you want to work towards achieving a higher grade in English and Maths, we can help you do that too and we offer Level 3 Mathematical Studies (Core Maths) which can be added to your study programme.

If you're aged 19 or above and don't hold a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths we can help. We offer FREE English and Maths qualifications that can be studied on a part-time basis, subject to eligibility.
