You will achieve a City and Guilds ESOL Speaking and Listening Entry One qualification.

Course overview

We offer three entry-level part-time ESOL courses for adults: Entry 1, Entry 2 and Entry 3. The level you study with us will depend on your level of English, which we will assess you on after you apply. We will then help you enrol onto the right course for you. We have highly qualified experts ready to help you achieve your goals. You will learn how to make and understand lots of different types of sentences and use them to talk about many different subjects.

Course content

You will study five units, these are:

  • Food and hobbies (including numbers, dates, food, clothes, shopping, TV, going to a coffee shop, using a library and volunteering for charity)
  • Life in the UK (music, art, festivals, homes, family, neighbours and social media)
  • Activity and health (sport, human body, going to the doctor, sleep and stress)
  • English for Work (jobs, places of work, getting jobs, interviews, technology, and the internet)
  • The natural world (animals, transport, holidays, airports and museums)

Speaking and listening exams are in April. You can try again at the end of the course if needed.

You could move on to the next level of ESOL after completing this course, until your English is good enough to study other subjects. Then, you can do anything you want!

 

How much does the course cost?

If you aren’t eligible for funding, the cost will be £225. Asylum seekers, people on Universal Credit, and people working part time or earning less than £21,255 per year do not pay.
